TENANTS ‘TOTALLY SATISFIED’ WITH REMPLOY

Remploy Building Products, which manufactures PVC-U windows, doors and associated products, has just completed an order to supply Connaught Partnerships with 640 of its new GRP double skinned doors. The contract, worth £290,000, was placed and fulfilled within the first quarter of 2006, and was part of Connaught’s commitment to Golden Gates Housing, the ALMO managing the stock of Warrington Borough Council.

The contract also included tenant liaison, surveying and the completion of satisfaction reports. In the words of Golden Gates’ quality manager Bob Stephens, “This has been recorded at 100% - the first time a supplier has ever achieved this.” Mr Stephens added, “We have also saved more than £8000 compared with our previous supplier of doors, which effectively funds the refurbishment of another two houses in the district. This means excellent value for the people of Warrington.”

Remploy Building Products’ GRP double skinned doors are fabricated from WHS Halo’s System 10 profile. Designed as a double rebated system, the doors are tested to PAS 23/24. Tenants have a choice of styles and colours, whilst robust security and attractive aesthetics come as standard.

Part of Remploy Ltd, the UK’s largest employer of disabled people, Remploy Building Products offers local authorities and partner companies the opportunity to achieve their diversity targets. Now, with the imminent placement of further contracts by Golden Gates, more people with health conditions and disabilities in Warrington will be employed by Remploy and trained to recognised standards in surveying and fitting of the company’s products.

“Golden Gates manages more than 9000 properties on behalf of Warrington Borough Council and we’re working towards achieving the government’s Decent Homes Standard ahead of time,” said Bob Stephens. “This places obligations on our contractors to work with reliable partners.”

“Using Remploy Building Products makes commercial sense,” said Connaught Partnerships’ contracts manager Frank Godfrey. Connaughts is the principle contractor working with Golden Gates Housing. “The procurement process was straightforward, and the service we’ve received since has been excellent. There’s also the added bonus of Remploy being an ethical employer - in my experience, no other company provides such a comprehensive service.”

A further 2500 doors will be fitted to Golden Gates Housing properties, and the partnership is now also discussing Remploy’s services to recycle used materials, including PVC-U, glass, timber and aluminium.
